Policy Influence since 2011

Since its founding in 2011, Big Innovation Centre has contributed to policy discussions on emerging technologies and innovation ecosystems by convening policymakers, industry leaders and researchers. Through taskforces, parliamentary engagement and international dialogues, the Centre has supported policy development in areas such as artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, data governance and innovation policy.

Selected examples include:

Global Innovation Dialogue

Big Innovation Centre contributes to international discussions on innovation policy and emerging technologies by convening policymakers, industry leaders and researchers across sectors and regions.

In 2013, the Centre hosted a delegation associated with the G8 Summit, presenting how open innovation—combining big data, sensor technologies, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things—could shape global innovation ecosystems towards 2025. In the same year, Big Innovation Centre hosted the launch of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 flagship programme, bringing together global policymakers and industry representatives to discuss collaborative innovation across the European Research Area.

The Centre has also convened international dialogues such as the Triple Helix International Conference (2013) and contributed to global technology discussions including AI Everything at the Dubai World Trade Centre (2018). More recently, in 2024, Big Innovation Centre developed an ESG strategy for a government-backed semiconductor company in Asia.
