 "Barclays has been working hard to support lending to SMEs. In the first half of this year we supported 50,000 business start-ups, and lent £7bn to SMEs approving over 80% of loan applications – on average one every four minutes.

But we still need to do more. We must ensure we reconnect with our customers, and small businesses need to know that ‘we are open for business’, because they are at the heart of our business.

As we play our part in restoring the British economy to health we need to boost and facilitate business growth and support our SMEs.
