The UK regulatory intellectual property regime is finally in step with a highly dynamic global economy, where business models and consumer behaviour are changing all the time.
Vince Cable has announced exceptions and limitations to copyright in the areas of private copying, education, research, data analytics, copyright administration and much more. The IP reform is progressive and a huge step change in the UK’s capacity to innovate and generate wealth and secure growth through IP.
Individuals, businesses, researchers, consumers and users, teachers and librarians will also benefit from clearer guidelines on rights, limitations and exceptions, and IP reform is doing just that.
Let’s hope that exceptions and limitations on intellectual property will also enlighten the courts.
